Benjamin Zamostny

Mr. Zamostny, a former United States Marine, graduated, summa cum laude, from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN in 2008 with his degree in music education. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He has worked as a music teacher in Vermont, Indiana, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Maryland. During his teaching tenure, Mr. Zamostny has taught general music, orchestra, band, choir, guitar, drama, and many other music related courses. He is currently working on his Masters Degree in Administration, with an expected graduation date of December 2017.
He enjoys Star Wars, Thundercats, and Knight Rider. When not at work, you can find him working with the Boy Scouts of America (Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow), riding bikes with his wife (Mrs. Jill Zamostny), and going to concerts.
Michael Kearney

Mike comes to us from New York, where he has worked with percussion programs throughout the state.

He is excited to be working with the Oakdale percussion again this year to make them better and better!
Faith Kirschling

Faith Kirschling is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Music Education at Shepherd University. At Shepherd, Faith has played in the jazz band, marching band, wind ensemble, symphonic band, orchestra, and brass ensemble. She became section leader and first chair of the wind ensemble her Freshman year and has maintained that position since then. Faith has been playing the trumpet since she was in fifth grade, and since then she has played in the Frederick All-county band for six years, all of Governor Thomas Johnson High School's musical ensembles, Hood College Wind Ensemble, and the Hagerstown Municipal Band. She has also competed in the Maryland State Solo festival, receiving all superior marks for two years. She has studied trumpet privately with Dr. John Purcell of Gettysburg College, Brian Hinkley, and Wayne Cameron. Faith is excited to be working with the Oakdale band this year and hopes to help the students on their journey to achieve musical excellence.

Brad Kauffman

Brad Kauffman is a graduate of Catoctin High School and is the Assistant Band Director at Oakdale High School. Brad has loved playing music ever since he picked up his first trumpet over ten years ago at Mother Seton School and continues to play daily. He specializes in brass instruments but also plays clarinet, percussion, and auxiliary instruments.
Brad's playing experience includes performing with different music groups at Catoctin High School such as: The Marching Cougar Band, concert band, symphonic orchestra, musical pit ensembles, and indoor percussion. In the Marching band, Brad became the brass section leader as a sophomore, and helped lead his band to ACI's, where the Cougar Band took 1st place. While performing at CHS, Brad was privileged to attend West Chester University's Leadership School. There he learned how to challenge students to become outstanding leaders and performers. Brad pushes our students with an exceptional dedication to the perfection of music.
Working experience includes: working for Music and Arts as a brass repair technician and in retail locations. After graduation of high school, Brad continued to help the brass section at CHS, along with filming practices and competitions. Brad has also worked as low brass and visual instructor for the Gov. Thomas Johnson Marching Band and Oakdale High School Marching Band. This season he is excited to be working closely with the Oakdale Marching Band again to help the students be all they can be!

Elizabeth Alexander

Elizabeth Alexander is a recent graduate of Oakdale High School, having completed with High Honors in the Spring of 2014. She was a member of the Oakdale Dance Team for four years where they performed on the Disney Stage for the National Dance Team Championships. She was also a member of the All-American Dance Team which performs New Year’s Day in London. She captained the team when they won the Mid-Atlantic Pom and Dance Association’s State Competition in the Spring of 2014.
Lizzy was also an active member of the Color Guard program here at Oakdale for three years, being captain of the Indoor Program in the Spring of 2014 where she was the lead soloist for the Show, “Over the Love”. She is trained in all three pieces of equipment, rifle, sabre and flag.
She is currently attending University of Maryland, College Park as a Physiology and Neurobiology major. She is very excited to be helping out the Band Program this season and helping the students in their effort to achieve greatness. She hopes to be able to share her knowledge of dance and movement with all members of the program to help them grow as a program and as individuals.
Nathan Speir

Nathan is a recent graduate of TJ high school. There, he participated in many ensembles, such as concert band, marching band, jazz band, pit orchestra and string orchestra. He was also the drum major of the marching band his senior year, serving as a section leader for many years prior. Outside of TJ, Nathan has participated in the Hood College Wind Ensemble, the Frederick Youth Flute Choir, and the Advanced Music Studies academy. He will be attending Shenandoah University in the fall to major in Music Education.
